Delicato....affordable quality

We first discovered Delicato from Sam's club. It was a 2003 Shiraz and came with two bottles for $9.50 so we had to try it out. It is actually a very good wine and has won many awards. They even make a 3 liter bota box for those who would rather have a better box wine than Almaden or some other wine box gut buster. The 3 liter bota box is around $15 at specs and is equivalent to 4 bottles. It comes with an easy pour spout and stays good for a month or two. We recently tried the Delicato Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 and it was very good as well. I suspect all of their wines would be of the same caliber of quality and affordability...my two favorite determining factors in a wine. Delicato is a great, affordable wine that is great for just about any occassion or meal. Check it out....

God's Golden Ambrosia--Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio

Welcome to my first wine review. We, (we being my wife Michelle and I) have recently discovered a wonderful Pinot Grigio. This, my friends, is ambrosia in a bottle. The yellow, golden elixir is sure to please the most formitable of paletes. A delicate, dry, white wine with a hint of floral aromas and I could feel the sunshine bursting forth from within the grapes as we drank it. It was so good that my wife and kids told me to shut up about it. I hope it startles you as it did me.

You can get a 750 ml bottle for around $6 but I'd go for the 1.5L for $9 at Sam's or Spec's and find a couple of friends to share it with. Give me a call if you can't find anyone. Serve very cold and keep it cold. An added bonus is it keeps in the fridge with no noticeable taste loss.

Slainte,
Tim

WELCOME!! To the first Post of Tim's Great Wine Adventures

This is a journey into the vine. For in the vine is fruit, and in the fruit.... is wisdom.

Welcome to my Wine Adventure Blog. I plan on posting as many new wine finds as I come across. I tend to drink wines that are usually below $10-$15 a bottle, so if you are in that price range and looking for something to try, go for it.

I will end this post with one of my favorite glimpses of Jesus:

Three days later there was a wedding in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there. Jesus and his disciples were guests also. When they started running low on wine at the wedding banquet, Jesus' mother told him, "They're just about out of wine." Jesus said, "Is that any of our business, Mother--yours or mine? This isn't my time. Don't push me." She went ahead anyway, telling the servants, "Whatever he tells you, do it." Six stoneware water pots were there, used by the Jews for ritual washings. Each held twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus ordered the servants, "Fill the pots with water." And they filled them to the brim. "Now fill your pitchers and take them to the host," Jesus said, and they did. When the host tasted the water that had become wine (he didn't know what had just happened but the servants, of course, knew), he called out to the bridegroom, "Everybody I know begins with their finest wines and after the guests have had their fill brings in the cheap stuff. But you've saved the best till now!" This act in Cana of Galilee was the first sign Jesus gave, the first glimpse of his glory. And his disciples believed in him.
